Terms of use

Skano helps people organize volunteer searches. It is a community tool, not an emergency service: if someone is in danger, call the police (100) or an ambulance (101) first.

What Skano is

Skano Grid ("Skano", "we") is a tool for organizing volunteer searches for missing people, pets and lost items. It divides the search into small areas, guides each volunteer to one and records the ground that was covered.

Skano is not an emergency service and doesn't replace the police, rescue teams or emergency services. We don't monitor searches and don't send help. If a person is missing or in danger, report it to the police (100) first. Outside Israel, call your local emergency number (112 in most countries).

You need to be 16 or older to use Skano. Younger volunteers take part only with a parent or guardian.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep Skano accurate and available, but we can't promise that a search will find anyone or anything, that locations, maps, routes or coverage are accurate, or that the service will always work. GPS can be off by tens of meters, maps can be out of date, and phones lose signal and battery.

Use Skano as one aid among others, together with your own judgment and the instructions of the authorities.

Your safety comes first

You take part in a search by choice and at your own risk. Follow the law and the instructions of the police and rescue teams on site.

Don't enter private property without permission, closed or military zones, the sea, cliffs, roads or any ground that is dangerous for you. An area on the map is not permission to enter it.

Don't confront anyone. If you find a person, stay with them if it is safe, call 101 or 100, and tap "I found it" so the organizer knows where you are.

Creating a search

If you create a search, you confirm that it is real, that you have a good reason to look for the person, pet or item, and that you have the right to publish the details and photos you add.

Don't create a search for an adult who chose to leave and doesn't want to be found, to locate or harass anyone, or to collect information about people. Public searches are reviewed before they are listed, and we may remove any search.

You're responsible for what you publish, and for using what volunteers share with you (names, positions, routes, photos) only to run the search.

A reward is a promise between you and the finder. We are not part of it and do not handle payments between you.

Fair use

Don't post false reports, spam, or content that is illegal, hateful or invades someone's privacy. Don't try to identify or follow volunteers, don't copy or overload the service by automated means, and don't use Skano to break the law.

We may remove content, close a search or suspend an account that breaks these terms or puts people at risk.

Your content

What you post stays yours. You allow us to store it and show it to the people taking part in the search, and for public searches on public pages, share images and posters, only to run and spread that search.

Paid plans

Most of Skano is free. When a paid plan or upgrade is offered, we show its price and what it includes before you pay. Cancellations and refunds follow the Consumer Protection Law.

Responsibility

Skano is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the outcome of a search, for decisions made on the basis of the app, or for indirect damage, loss of data or loss of profit. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Changes and leaving

We may update these terms. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app before it applies. You can stop using Skano at any time and delete your account in Account → Your data.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. The competent courts in Tel Aviv-Yafo have exclusive jurisdiction.
